About Alternative Energy Today LLC

Alternative Energy Today LLC was conceived the first time I spent $100 for a tank of #2 Diesel for my Chevy 2500.  I had heard of biofuel options and even knew a few "maniacs" who claimed to make their own fuel.  Armed with several years of experience as a process and technology engineer I set out to learn more about my options.

Biodiesel immediately stood out as a legitimate alternative.  I ordered a few books and began spending my nights glued to the computer researching this concept and the history.  Finally I decided to put my research to work and converted the back of my garage to a process lab and I began experimenting with a number of filtering, dewatering, and processing concepts.  I established agreements with a number of local restaurants for their used cooking oil and made my first batch. 

My first batch of fuel was nerve racking to say the least but at the same time amazingly easy.  The biodiesel floated to the top, the glycerin went to the bottom exactly as expected.  I washed the fuel per my research and tested the results.  After a quick pass through a filter and some deep soul searching the fuel went into my late model Chevrolet 2500 Duramax Diesel.  Armed with a spare fuel filter, and a couple more jugs of biodiesel, I hooked up a 5K lb boat, loaded the family and camping gear and headed out on a 500 mile drive south to put this theory to the test.

As we pulled on to the highway I immediately noticed no loss of power.  The truck accelerated as normal, maintained temperature as normal and even ran quieter than with #2!  I was astonished, yet on the edge of my seat waiting for something to go wrong.  When I returned home with no problems to report I was ecstatic.  We had just completed a 500 mile round trip on homemade fuel costing less than $.60 a gallon. 

Applying business development experience from the last decade in the Fortune 50 space I began modeling forecast and business plans for a larger scale version of the now perfected process living in my garage.  I hired industry experts to review and validate my plans and began working with top process manufacturing firms to ensure a high quality and efficient build out of my concepts. 

Alternative Energy Today LLC became official in June of 2008 and we now expect to begin commercial production by February of 2009.  I have big expansion goals with this model and am excited to be in a position to help drive renewable and environmentally responsible fuel sources.
